სამხრეთ კორეის ქალაქ ფიონჩანგში ზამთრის 23-ე ოლიმპიური თამაშები ოფიციალურად დაიწყო. გახსნის ცერემონია ოლიმპიურ სტადიონზე გაიმართა. მასში მონაწილეობა დაახლოებით ორი ათასმა ადამიანმა მიიღო. ოლიმპიური ცეცხლი სამხრეთკორეელმა ჩემპიონმა მოციგურავემ კიმ ენ ამ აანთო.
გახსნის ცერემონიაზე სხვადასხვა ქვეყნის ოლიმპიურ დელეგაციებთან ერთად საქართველოს დელეგაცია გამოვიდა. დელეგაციის მედროშე მოციგურავე მორის ყვითელაშვილი იყო.
ორგანიზატორების თქმით, ღონისძიების ცენტრალური იდეა - მსოფლიოს შერიგებაა. განსკუთრებით ყურადღების ცენტრში იყო სამხრეთ და ჩრდილოეთ კორეის დელეგაცია, რომელიც გახსნაზე 'გაერთიანებული კორეის' დროში წარდგნენ.
